Articles

The primary expression of the ministry of the Brethren Revival Fellowship through the years has been the BRF Witness. This bi-monthly publication reaches to about 11,000 persons each issue. Presented in a simple pamphlet form, each issue deals with one main subject or Bible teaching, plus additional columns of one page length [such as "The Bread Basket" and "A Word About Words"], make up each BRF Witness edition. The articles here included are the primary articles from each issue.

  • REPRINTS: PLEASE READ Out of courtesy we request that if you wish to reprint or otherwise use an article from the BRF Witness or the website, please ask us. Why did the NAE rescue the NCC from irrelevance?
    By R. Albert Mohler
“I know what constituted an evangelical in former times,” said the seventh Earl Shaftesbury. “I have no clear notion what constitutes one now.” The confusion Lord Shaftesbury saw a century ago is now fully apparent. Millions of Americans claim to be evangelicals, but few…Read More!

    The First Christmas

    Birth of Jesus

For Christians, Christmas Day is a special day, one of the happiest days of the year. There is gladness and singing. Often there is a special meal and a visit from relatives and friends. But Christmas means a lot more than gifts and decorations and family gatherings. Christmas should be observed specifically in memory of…Read More!

    The Prayer Veil
    (Annual Conference Statement)

    Query
Whereas, the long-time-honored practice of sisters wearing the prayer veil is being greatly neglected over the general Brotherhood, and
Whereas, many brethren and sisters no longer believe in Paul’s teaching along this line, as has been understood and practiced by the church in the past centuries,
Therefore, we, the members of the Quinter church, hereby, through the…Read More!

    Practical Rules For Making Peace

Getting along peaceably with others is a skill that can be learned. There are a few basic rules that should help us “follow the things that make for peace.”
    1. Resolve to be humble in attitude

Values Promoted by Brethren Revival Fellowship

    BRF is slanted:
    • In favor of teaching and preaching the Bible as the authoritative Word of God, without error in the original autographs.

    • In favor of belief in the deity of Christ, His virgin birth, His visible second coming, and His substitutionary atonement.
    • In favor of the Ten Commandments, the…Read More!

What Would Jesus Say to the Church of the Brethren?

    By James F. Myer

Jesus isn’t taking public speaking assignments on earth right now, so I was asked by the BRF Committee to tackle the subject above. Had Jesus actually come in bodily form to the 219th recorded Annual Conference at Peoria, Illinois this summer, He might have said that while He has been present at…Read More!

The Birth of Jesus in Matthew 1

    jesus_nativity

Many Jews in New Testament times were expecting the Messiah to be a king who would lead a revolt against Rome, and make Israel a free nation again. The message of Matthew is that Jesus is the king that you have been looking for.
But if a man suddenly appears and claims to be a king,…Read More!

A Statement of Support for the Defense of Marriage Amendment

    Introduction
We are members of churches in the United States. We are saddened that some U.S. church leaders have offered public statements and teachings that undermine rather than strengthen marriage and family in our society. Our commitments to marriage are rooted in God’s revelation in Holy Scripture. But we also affirm the multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, and multi-faith…Read More!
