BNTC - Hebrews
BNTC - Hebrews
by Harold S. Martin. 212 pages, clothbound.
The book of Hebrews begins with a magnificent tribute to Jesus Christ (1:1-3), and throughout the book readers are encouraged to hold fast to Jesus, our Mediator and Redeemer.
Hebrews emphasizes three great truths:
1. The superior person of Christ (1:1—7:28) 2. The superior provisions of Calvary (8:1—10:18) 3. The superior principles of conduct (10:19—13:25)
The key word in the book of Hebrews is "better," and one of the purposes for the book was to assure Jewish Christians that Old Testament Judaism has come to an end, now that Christ has fulfilled the whole purpose of the Law. Hebrews was also designed to warn those who had identified themselves as Christians, against falling back into Judaism and abandoning their faith in Christ. Another purpose is to bring to the attention of Christians everywhere the truth about the superiority of the Lord Jesus Christ.
There are warning passages pointing to the dangers of neglect, unbelief, immaturity, and willful sin.
