COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

CHURCH LEADERSHIP AND ADMINISTRATION - This course will look at basic principles and polity of leading the local church. We will examine the balance between upholding a spiritually focused organism of ministry and maintaining proper order for effective organization. Practical applications will be emphasized.

THE LIFE OF JOB AND FRIENDS - The book of Job speaks to us just as much today as it did to the 'ancients' as we consider the imponderable questions of suffering, pain and affliction. The course is an extension and continuation of a previous course, but stands on its own. Modern attitudes on suffering seem to spring from the ashes of attitudes expressed by Job's 'friends.'

THE BOOK OF PHILIPPIANS - In this fascinating and encouraging letter written from Paul's heart to the Philippians, we will gain insight and applications for our Christian walk. This study will be for students desiring a life grounded in Christ by examining His love, joy, humility, obedience and discipline. Our goal will be to receive practical encouragement to live a Christ-centered life!

PASTORAL CARE AND COUNSELING - All are aware of spiritual casualties within the church. This course is a two-way mirror assisting all of those who have positions of leadership within the church in (I) looking out for their own spiritual health (and with those responsible for them) and (II) helping with techniques in providing counseling for the exciting and/or traumatic events of life. All could benefit from this course, which fulfills the requirements for ministerial training.

PAUL'S WORLD -- Saul of Tarsus: Roman citizen, pedigreed Jew, tentmaker, Christian pioneer, world traveler. This study will focus on the complex mix that turned a young member of the Jewish Sanhedrin into the Apostle Paul, arguably the most influential Christian in history.

HISTORY OF THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH - This class will provide a broad overview of general church history. We will then focus on the Anabaptist and Pietist movements, especially as they relate to the formation and development of the Brethren groups.

THE BIBLICAL UNDERSTANDING OF MONEY AND FINANCES - One of the key parts of Christian discipleship is stewardship. How do we properly use the resources, time and money God has given to us? This course will look at what the Bible has to teach us in the area of stewardship and finances. We will also look at the practical applications and principles in the areas of personal budgets, credit, giving, tithing, saving, and investing.

SNAPSHOTS FROM THE BOOK OF JOHN - John's gospel shouts the divinity of Christ. We will examine some of the exciting accounts of what Jesus did and said as recorded by John. We will begin with an introduction and then look at as many "snapshots" as time allows. Class will be open for discussion and questions.

REGISTRATION MUST BE RECEIVED AT THE ADDRESS BELOW BY JUNE 25, 2008.
