MAY/JUNE 2000

  • NEW ADDRESSES

  • Please note in this issue of the Witness that some addresses have changed. The new BRF address is now P. O. Box 543, Ephrata, PA 17522. Harold Martin's new address is 26 United Zion Circle, Lititz, PA 17543. Eric and Linda Brubaker will be overseeing the BRF incoming mail.
  • MATTHEW BOOK NOW AVAILABLE

  • BRF has just released a 265 page commentary on Matthew by Harold S. Martin. Copies are available for $7.95 by writing to the new BRF address listed above. Please add $1.00 per copy for postage and handling. The mailing costs for five or more copies will be picked up by BRF. See the book review. Other books are also available.
  • IT'S TIME TO REGISTER

  • Registrations for the Brethren Alive 2000 Conference to be held July 28-30, 2000 are coming in. We are planning for several hundred people to gather for this time of spiritual renewal. The purpose for this conference expresses the very heart of BRF's existence--to work at revival in the Church of the Brethren. The location is at Elizabethtown College where meals and lodging will be provided. We are set up for all ages from little tots to great grandparents. Please write for a brochure if you do not have one.
  • BRETHREN BIBLE INSTITUTE 2000

  • Registration for BBI will begin on Sunday evening, July 30. The Institute will be held from Monday through Friday during the following week. If you can arrange for it, plan to combine the two events (Alive 2000 and BBI) into an eight day time of spiritual growth. Write to Ken Leininger, 155 Denver Road, Denver, PA 17517 if you need a brochure.
  • VOLUNTEERS FOR US AND DOMINICAN REPUBLIC Houseparents and single BVS/BRF volunteers are needed for a one year assignment in Maine. Two year BVS/BRF volunteers are needed for the Brethren Mission House project in the Dominican Republic. Please write or call James F. Myer for information.

  • MOVING ON

  • After more than eight years of serving as Missioners at the mother church in Germantown, PA, Earl and Barbara Eby have accepted a three year assignment to become the houseparents for the Brethren Mission House project in the Dominican Republic. This project will be assisting in the development of the Church of the Brethren missionary endeavors in that country. To stay abreast of this and other mission activities, please write to the Brethren Mission Fund, Box 251, Lititz, PA 17543.

CHANGE OF ADDRESS?
It is a constant task to keep our mailing list current. You can help us:

    1) Promptly report any changes in your address.

    2) If there is a duplication on our mailing list, please tell us about it.

    3) If you need more (or fewer) copies of the WITNESS for your congregation, let us know.

    4) If you do not want to receive our brochures, we will delete your name from the list if you let us know.

    5) If you know of congregations or individuals that would appreciate receiving the BRF WITNESS, don't hesitate to ask us to include them on our mailing list. We send it free of charge to all who want to read it.

If you currently get the BRF WITNESS, and want to make any changes (address updates, number of copies, deletions, etc.), please send us the address label from your mailing. This will help us serve you better.

  • THE NEXT BEST THING TO BEING THERE

  • The 1999 General BRF Meeting was held on September 11 at the Tearcoat Church of the Brethren in the West Marva District. People came from eight states and 32 different congregations. At least one was there who lives on the West Coast. If you would like to listen in to the meeting by way of tape, contact:
    Leon J. Wenger
    130 Clearview Drive
    Ephrata, PA 17522
Please send him $3.50 for each tape. There is one for the morning session and one tape for the afternoon session. The focus of the day was on exploring mission attitudes, past and present, in the Church of the Brethren. You will also learn how one of the speakers delivered his sermon without even showing up at the meeting.
