News from March/April 1999 BRF Witness

May/June 1999
  • BRF RETREATING

  • The word "retreat" suggests a pulling back in order to analyze and to gain a better perspective for going ahead. The BRF Committee spent two days this past winter in a serious evaluation of our current activities and future plans. We will now need to work at implementing the changes that the retreat experience seemed to suggest. [This BRF Website was one of the suggestions.] Keep reading the WITNESS to stay informed.

  • WHAT IS BMF?

  • These letters stand for "Brethren Mission Fund." This Fund was announced in December of 1998 to be managed by BRF and other personnel to help resource evangelical missionary activity by Brethren people. To request a BMF Newsletter and or make contributions please write

    Lititz, PA 17543
This is a separate Newsletter from the WITNESS and will be mailed free of charge upon request. Already some funds have been disbursed.
  • WHAT'S HAPPENING SEPTEMBER 11?

  • This is the day of BRF's Annual Meeting. The location is Tear Coat Church of the Brethren near Augusta, West Virginia. Why not come, bring a little food, and enjoy the faith and fellowship of this gathering? The meeting is from 10:00 to 4:00. This will be an informative day with an emphasis on missions.

  • ANNUAL MEETING TIME

  • Before long it will be time to pack our bags and head for Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where the Annual Conference will be held. BRF has a number of planned activities to which you are invited:

Wednesday, June 30 -- BRF's Insight Session title is "BRF's Goals for Ministerial Leadership in the Church of the Brethren."

Friday, July 2 -- BRF's Dinner Event at which time an inspirational message will be shared.

Saturday, July 3 -- BRF's Noon Luncheon to promote the activities of BRF and the Brethren Mission Fund.

  • INDIGESTION ANYONE?

  • You can acquire tickets for the above mentioned meal events by stopping at the BRF Literature Stand and requesting them. There is no up front charge for the meal but an opportunity will be given to contribute toward its cost. We urge you to attend these events and receive some information, inspiration, illumination-and if you eat too much--indigestion! --James F. Myer
