Over 300 brothers and sisters found biblical instruction, invigorating singing, and much encouragement for renewed dedication--at the Brethren Alive 2000 Conference held at Elizabethtown College on July 28-30, 2000. Brethren Revival Fellowship planned this "big rally" event primarily for Brethren. It is the first of its kind ever organized by BRF, and even though it was planned as a one-time event, we heard many calls for more of such conferences in the future. Four major sessions focused on renewal through doctrine, worship, fellowship, and evangelism. The messages were all based on the passage in Acts 2:42-47, which is a description of the major activities of the early church following the Day of Pentecost. Tapes of the four major sermons are available by writing to
The Brethren Mission House is now in operation in the Dominican Republic. Earl and Barb Eby, along with their two sons, Christopher and Bryan, are located at Azua, D.R. where a house has been rented, and later made ready by the BRF Youth Work Camp this past summer. About twenty youth led by Steve and Cindy Hitz, from the Midway Congregation (Atlantic Northeast District) did a week's work of cleaning up and fixing up around the place. The Ebys were on-site coordinators. Several single BVSers on a two year volunteer assignment are preparing to go to the Dominican Republic in mid September and teach English as a second language. This program will be offered within the ministry of the Church of the Brethren mission congregations in the Dominican Republic as a way of increasing their outreach effectiveness. The address for the Ebys and the Brethren Mission House is:

The Annual BRF Meeting for 2001 is scheduled for September 8 at the Berkey Church of the Brethren in Western Pennsylvania (near Windber). Please make plans to attend. Some well meaning neighbors came to share comfort with some of our friends following the death of their close relative. "We are sorry to hear that your day had perspired," they said. "But you have have our full symphony." --James F. Myer
