ANNUAL CONFERENCE AT DES MOINES
BRF events at Annual Conference were well attended, even though the overall Conference attendance was lower than that of Peoria in 2005. See the Annual Conference review on page 12 in this Witness.
BRETHREN BIBLE INSTITUTE
BBI had 109 participants this year at Elizabethtown College. Principal Ken Leininger and his team provided a rich time of instruction, fellowship, and recreation. See the BRF Website for photos from the school, and for information about the 2007 BBI. The dates are July 23-27, 2007.
BRETHREN ALIVE 2006
Several hundred Brethren from at least nine districts gathered in Elizabethtown, PA, for Brethren Alive from July 28-30. Our thanks to the Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren for hosting the Friday and Saturday sessions of Brethren Alive, and to the Elizabethtown College for hosting on Sunday morning. It was one of the warmest weekends of the year, and as the Elizabethtown church building is not air-conditioned, the sessions were quite warm indeed. The preaching in the main sessions and the teaching in the Saturday workshops were intensely refreshing. A welcome ice cream social helped cool things off a bit, and the youth were challenged in their knowledge of the Bible with a game of "Bible Jeopardy." Charles llyes, of the Midway congregation, and Kenneth Leininger, of the Cocalico congregation (both Atlantic Northeast District), were affirmed to continue on the BRF Committee. Tapes of all the Brethren Alive sessions and some of the workshops are available from Kurtis Brubaker, 1269 Woodlyn Drive, Denver, PA 17517.
BVS/BRF UNIT COMPLETES SERVICE IN MAINE
Twelve months ago the BVS volunteers along with the houseparents left home to give a year of service in the BRF Brethren Volunteer Service Unit, serving in Lewiston, Maine. BRF extends its thanks to the houseparents Ron and Laura Brinton and children Anna, Ben, and Meghan from the New Fairview congregation (Southern Pennsylvania District); volunteers Christopher Clayton (New Paris, Northern Indiana); Sonya Little (Upton, Southern Pennsylvania), Tonia Little (Blue Rock Independent Brethren Church), and Dwight Stauffer (White Oak, Atlantic Northeast). May the joys and challenges of active service continue to bless.
